How does Express Entry Work?
Express Entry manages applications for three economic immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
- Canadian Experience Class
Different provinces in Canada and different territories in Canada have their own requirements in selecting candidates from the pool of Express Entry through the different Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) to fill the labour market needs. There are 10 provinces and 3 territories, each Province and territory has its eligibility criteria, application fee structure, Occupations in demand list, based on local labor market requirements as per TEER Category and processing time also varies from all Provinces and territories.
Applicants who are willing to migrate to Canada and want to settle in the country as permanent residents have to meet the factors of Canada immigration obligations and should secure a score of sixty-seven points under this points-based selection system. On meeting the basic eligibility criteria, applicants create a profile with Express Entry called as the Expression of Interest an online application, under any of the four programs managed by Express Entry. In this profile, the applicant should give correct data like age, qualification, work experience, a job offer in hand, accompanying members and their details, etc. Points are allotted under each factor set Canada immigration standards. CIC reviews the application based on the requirements and on satisfying the requirements, application is routed to the application pool.
This pool consists of all different applications of individuals who have filed for Canada PR visa from all corners of the globe and all the applications are determined based on points under the Comprehensive Ranking System. Express Entry draws are conducted by CIC at regular intervals and applications with the very best CRS score set for every draw are picked up and issued with a letter of invitation to apply. This Invitation specifies, that the applicant meets all the required eligibility criteria to settle in Canada and are welcomed to become a permanent resident of Canada. Apart from Federal invitation, applicants receive Invitations for being nominated by the province or territory and or by receiving the job offer letter from the Canadian employer. Apart from these requirements, additional points can be issued to applicants, having a connection to family living in Canada and or knowing French the second official language of Canada, to make things faster in getting an invitation to applicants.
Canada express entry is an electronic pooling system to manage application and issue invitation for the potentials who meet the min requirements of the program applying for Permanent Residency (PR), Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC) applications. The express entry system is successive, reliable and accurate point system in achieving a successful visa through the online system. Minimum two to four draws in a month issues invitation on an average of 3350 to 3600, since January 2019.
The Canadian government has an immigration plan to invite over 1 million new immigrants on Permanent Residence (PR) visa in next three years. The Immigration Levels Plan for 2023 to welcome 4,65,000 immigrants, 2024 to welcome 4,85,000 immigrants and subsequently to welcome 5,00,000 immigrants in 2025.
Express entry provides all updates on the draws held in week or in a month, either invitations issued towards Federal Skilled program or Federal Skilled Trade program or Provincial Nominee Program.

Responsibilities (TEER) category of the National Occupational Classification
(NOC) - Education
Getting a Canadian permanent residency through a nomination from a province under PNP program is the easiest way.
