Let’s know about Canada (PR) Permanent Residency visa:

Permanent Resident visa is a status given to a skilled foreign professional to study in Canada, work in Canada and settle in Canada permanently by getting a Permanent resident card along with his accompanying family dependents. Who are entitled to get equal rights and benefits as the Canadian Citizens. The Permanent Residence of Canada is valid for a period of 5 years and comes with unlimited extensions for every 5 years. Canada has switched to 2021 National Occupational Classification (NOC) system from 2019 National Occupational Classification (NOC)  to identify and categorize jobs (occupations) based on the training, education, experience and responsibilities (TEER) they require.

A Skilled workers are divided into Four TEER categories, based on National Occupational Classification (NOC) under Express Entry, having at least 1 year of continuous work or 1,560 hours.

  • TEER 0 – Management occupations
  • TEER 1 – Occupations that usually require a university degree
  • TEER 2 – Occupations that usually require
    • a college diploma
    • apprenticeship training of 2 or more years, or
    • supervisory occupations
  • TEER 3 – Occupations that usually require
    • a college diploma
    • apprenticeship training of less than 2 years, or
    • more than 6 months of on-the-job training

A Skilled workers under Federal Skilled Trades Program fall under the below groups of the National Occupational Classification (NOC), having at least 2 years of full-time work experience within the 5 years before applying:

  • Major Group 72, technical trades and transportation officers and controllers
    • excluding Sub-Major Group 726, transportation officers and controllers
  • Major Group 73, general trades
  • Major Group 82, supervisors in natural resources, agriculture and related production
  • Major Group 83, occupations in natural resources and related production
  • Major Group 92, processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors, and utilities operators and controllers
  • Major Group 93, central control and process operators and aircraft assembly assemblers and inspectors, excluding Sub-Major Group 932, aircraft assemblers and aircraft assembly inspectors
  • Minor Group 6320, cooks, butchers and bakers
  • Unit Group 62200, chefs

A Skilled workers under Canadian Experience Class falls under Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC), having skilled work experience in TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 job categories. Having at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada, in the last 3 years before you apply—you can meet this in a few different ways.

How does Express Entry Work?

Federal Skilled Worker Visa (FSW)

Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is Canada’s primary economic immigration pathway by providing skilled workers and their families a great opportunity to become permanent residents in Canada. Minimum Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals can start the process under Federal Skilled Worker Program are determining whether or not they meet the minimum requirements of the program of six selection factor points, score 67 points or higher, you may qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker Program out of 100 points. The minimum requirements are:

  • Age between 18-46 Yrs
  • Foreign Credential with minimum Bachelor’s Degree, or Canadian educational credential,

Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

The Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) is a continuous Canadian residence path for foreign citizens with qualified trade experience. Foreign citizens who wish to immigrate to Canada under the Federal Skilled Trade Program must first express their interest through the Federal Express Entry Selection System. The FSTC enables persons with a valid work offer or qualifying certificate to acquire permanent residence in any province or territory other than Quebec in Canada.

Eligibility based on selection factors such as,

  • Live outside Canada,
  • Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience in skilled trade occupation within the 5 years before you apply,
  • Meet the job needs for that skilled trade, as set out in the National Occupational Classification (NOC), cover an proffer of full-time service for a entire period of at least 1 year or a permit of requirement in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is a program for overseas aspirants from Canada who wish to become Canada’s Permanent Residents, depending on Canada’s qualified work experience within three years of application.

Basic thing to check:

  • At least 12 months of skilled work experience in Canada, in the last three years (before you apply) either full-time or an equal amount in part-time with proper authorization documents with skilled work in TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 job categories
    • Points can be claimed towards education for a certificate, diploma or degree for Canadian study or foreign study. A foreign education with completed foreign credentials and Credential Assessments
    • Min Language ability with Canadian Language Benchmark Canadian Language Benchmark 7 for TEER 0 or TEER 1 jobs or Canadian Language Benchmark 5 for TEER 2 or TEER 3 jobs
    • Plan to live and work outside Quebec province

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Most provinces in Canada can recommend immigrants through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). These immigrants must have the skills; work and education experience to give to the economy of that county or territory and must want to live there.

Among ten Provinces and three Territories in Canada. Canadian provinces are so as to which has its own power and authority from the Constitutional Act, 1867 (formerly called the British North America Act, 1867), whereas territorial governments have its powers delegate to them by the Parliament of Canada.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) has its own criteria of selection. Each province has its own streams and criteria for their Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The eligibility criteria for the PNP are different based on whether you apply through the Express Entry streams process or non-Express Entry streams.

Quebec Skilled Worker (QSW)

The Quebec Skilled Worker QSW program is a selection system designed to identify immigration candidates who are most likely to become economically established in the province.

  • To receive their Immigration Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ), the applicant must apply to Immigration Quebec.
  • Applicants then apply to receive their permanent resident visa from the federal government.
  • An applicant can include their spouse and there dependent children whereas additional points are awarded to accompanying family members.

You must score enough points under the selection factors of Quebec Immigration described below to qualify for a CSQ. A single (unmarried) applicant must score at least 50 points based on this system, while at least 59 points must be scored by a applicant with a wife or common law partner.

Quebec’s Expression of Interest System

The EOI system is a two-step process for selecting skilled immigrants, whether they are abroad or already in the province.

The first step is to submit an electronic expression of interest for permanent immigration to Arrima. This is a pre-screening process that allows the government to rank interested candidates based on their human capital and labour market-related criteria.

The second step is for the government to invite the top-ranked candidates to apply for permanent immigration in regular draws from the pool. The chances of being invited in the draws depend on many factors. These include the government’s annual admission targets, its processing capacity, the candidates’ ranking scores in the pool, whether there is a job offer, and the targeted occupations at the time of each draw.

QSWP Eligibility

In order to be eligible for a CSQ under the QSWP, candidates must obtain sufficient points based on the Quebec Immigration selection grid.

This grid is composed of nine factors: 

  • education;
  • work experience;
  • age;
  • knowledge of French and English;
  • stay and family in Quebec;
  • validated job offer;
  • spouse’s characteristics;
  • presence of children;
  • ability to be financially independent.

 A single (unmarried) candidate must score at least 50 points based on this system, while a candidate with a spouse or common-law partner must score at least 59 points.

Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Trade Worker Program, Canadain Express Entry & Provincial Nominee Programs are being processed through the Express Entry Immigration to Canada selection system as of January 1, 2015.
